Conservation
 Minimizing the impact

The colorization technique used by Strudex Fibers actually conserves water and energy and eliminates waste water emissions.  The environmental impact of liquid dyeing is completely eliminated as dry color pigments are added into the nylon polymer before the fiber is made in a much cleaner, less wasteful process.

 Recycling

Maximizing the return

Another component of Strudex Fibers' drive to be environmentally responsible is an innovative ReNewrecycling program operated in co-operation with our carpet manufacturing customers.

Waste polymer in various forms is sorted according to its color, purity and state:

  • some waste fiber is processed into raw material for use in the manufacturing of felt.

  •

  • other waste is densified into pellets of recycled polymer, and sold to injection molding companies where it is made into a variety of products, from car parts to flower pots.

  • The purest of these recycled pellets are used in our own fiber extrusion process.

In all three instances, material that was formerly discarded as waste is now recycled, to reduce both virgin polymer consumption and landfill utilization.  Even the tubes around which our yarn is wound are products of our recycling program.  Today we use returnable tubes made from our own recycled polymer, replacing disposable cardboard tubes.

6ix Again recycling program

As part of our strategic sourcing agreement with BASF for nylon polymer, selected carpets of Ultrel™ nylon are eligible for 6ix Again, BASF's post-consumer commercial carpet recycling program.
